The craftsmen’s celebration for the new apartment buildings at Siegburger Straße 371 marked a significant milestone for Cologne-Poll. A group of craftsmen, public officials, neighbors, and future owners and tenants gathered today, August 10, to celebrate the project’s successful progress.

Andree Haack, Deputy Director of the Department of Urban Development, emphasized: “This project contributes to the modernization of our neighborhood and offers prospects for the future.” Andreas Wolter, Mayor of Cologne, added: “The topping-out ceremony marks the beginning of an exciting transformation for Poll. Furthermore, the wvm Group is known for its high quality.”

The 37 residential units and the first-class supermarket are not only a sign of the future but also of the Cologne-Poll community. The residents’ enthusiasm for the new supermarket and the neighborhood’s beautification was clearly evident during the topping-out ceremony.

“The response shows that there is a great need for housing in Cologne. We are determined to meet this challenge with commitment and passion,” emphasized Erika Werres, Managing Director of the wvm Group. The strong demand for the rental apartments—even though leasing won’t begin until spring 2024—underscores the project’s significance.

With the successful celebration of the topping-out ceremony, wvm continues on its path toward the new center of Köln-Poll. The close collaboration with the REWE Group and the involvement of Schroders Real Estate KVG mbH as the owner are helping to make this vision a reality.

On a total area of 3,738 m², 37 residential units, a supermarket with a bakery and fresh food counter, and 31 parking spaces in the underground garage are being built, 20 of which are already equipped with charging stations for electric cars. The project developer, wvm, sold the construction project to Schroders Real Estate KVG mbH on October 1, 2021, and has already leased the commercial space to the REWE Group on a long-term basis.

Designed and Built with Sustainability in Mind

Wvm Immobilien is constructing the building in accordance with ecological sustainability standards: The building complex will feature future-proof, low energy consumption. Upon completion, Schroders aims to obtain BREEAM certification for the building. The ecological measures include, among other things, landscaping the site to create nesting, shelter, and overwintering habitats for insects and birds, as well as providing the infrastructure for a photovoltaic system and installing water-saving plumbing fixtures.

Shaping Responsibility – Thinking Ahead to the Future: wvm Group at the polis Convention 2026

The future doesn’t just happen on its own—it’s shaped. For the wvm Group, this means taking responsibility: for cities worth living in, for sustainable neighborhoods, and for the people who live there. It is precisely this commitment that is at the heart of our presence at the polis Convention 2026. On May 6 and 7, leading players in urban development will gather in Düsseldorf to discuss the future of urban spaces under the theme “New Horizons”—and we’ll be right in the thick of it. The wvm Group is part of a strong network in the Cologne region. Together with Kreissparkasse Köln, KSK-Immobilien, KSK-Real Estate Management, Metroloq, and Mull & Partner, we’ll be represented at the joint booth A04.4 —under the umbrella of the Cologne/Bonn region. What unites us is a shared conviction: Urban development doesn’t stop at property lines. It means taking responsibility—for the region, for its economic future, and for people’s quality of life. For us, this is about more than just buildings: We create living spaces that function sustainably in the long term—ecologically, socially, and economically. Housing plays a central role in this. After all, a home is far more than just a roof over one’s head. It is the foundation for stability, community, and quality of life. That is why we develop projects with the clear goal of creating sustainable and livable neighborhoods that meet the needs of today and tomorrow. Through our work, we help secure the region’s economic strength while simultaneously creating livable spaces. In doing so, we think beyond property lines—and always with the people who shape our neighborhoods in mind. For us, the polis Convention 2026 is not just a stage, but above all a place for dialogue. Engaging with partners, municipalities, and industry colleagues is crucial for gaining new perspectives and developing solutions together. Visit us at Booth A04.4 and join the conversation—for example, at our scheduled events: We look forward to inspiring encounters, new ideas, and working together to shape the future of the city.
