Berlin, January 26, 2026 – Last Friday, the topping-out ceremony took place at the Berkenbrücker Steig 18-19 residential project. After 22 months of construction, the 44-apartment project by the wvm Group Berlin is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026. Residents can look forward to a new building that meets the KfW 40 Plus standard, offering attractive depreciation options as well as heat pumps and photovoltaic systems for an economical and environmentally sustainable energy supply. Thanks to the direct electricity model, residents can use the solar power generated directly. They are also independent of district heating and gas supplies.
At Berkenbrücker Steig, the wvm Group Berlin offers a diverse mix of one- to five-room apartments, including three-room apartments starting at €500,000. The purchase is commission-free. "Currently, 19 apartments have been sold. The new owners include many owner-occupiers from the surrounding districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Pankow, and Lichtenberg, as well as investors, meaning that some apartments will also be available on the rental market," says Dr. Clemens Paschke, Managing Director of the wvm Group Berlin. The mobility concept at Berkenbrücker Steig is also sustainable. Twenty-five underground parking spaces are already equipped for e-mobility. In addition, there are 113 bicycle parking spaces, supplemented by six covered parking spaces for cargo bikes and bicycles, as well as storage areas for strollers.
The shell was constructed using serial construction methods with GOLDBECK as the general contractor. David Fischer, Managing Director of the wvm Group Berlin, and Sebastian Bethge, Branch Manager of GOLDBECK Nordost GmbH, praised the collaboration. In his speech, Prof. Martin Pätzold (CDU/directly elected representative) emphasized the special challenges and qualities in his constituency, which is one of the fastest-growing districts in Berlin. "We need more housing construction in Berlin. This is the only way we can remedy the shortage. The Sportforum and the local recreation area at Obersee and Orankesee lakes offer numerous opportunities for leisure activities. However, the social and transport infrastructure must grow along with it, especially here in Alt-Hohenschönhausen. We also need more doctors and the expansion of public transport." That is why he is campaigning for more frequent tram services, for example.
